PATISSERIE AND BAKERY WORKSHOP IN PROVENCE STYLE
New bakery and patisserie is attracting attention not only for its bread and pastries, but also for an interior in which decoration is used with intention — nothing is added without purpose, but nothing is left out simply for the sake of restraint.
The design is built on three materials: white oak, a soft quartz composite with gray veins and a muted lacquered green color used for the cabinets. The oak is present in the shelves, door frames and the long service counter, left with a visible texture and satin finish. The quartz appears where the function requires it most — the service counter and the back behind the espresso machine — chosen for its durability in daily use as much as for its appearance. The sage green cabinets, decorated with fittings and profiles reminiscent of Provencal interiors, are limited to the lower modules under the counter — the only color and decorative touch against the background of the wood above them.
This reference to Provence is not accidental. According to the owner and head pastry chef, it is the style closest to her heart, and it appears throughout the space in small gestures rather than as an overall theme: in the profile of a cabinet door, in the choice of ceramic fittings, in the warmth of the palette. These details are treated as an essential part of the character of the space, not as a finishing touch added afterwards – a tribute woven into the architecture itself.
Significantly, the design does not erase the building’s earlier history. Parts of the original pine paneling and a rough stone wall have been preserved rather than replaced, giving the new woodwork a backdrop with texture and age already built into it. The stone wall, left largely in its original form, now serves as a backdrop for open oak shelves of wine and tea.
The result is an interior built on two registers kept in balance: a front area, carrying the warmth and detail of Provençal design, and a back kitchen defined by the functional clarity of stainless steel — together reflecting the values of what comes out of the ovens, crafted with precision and care at every step of the process.
