Wonderland

We named this project "Wonderland" due to its connection with the famous literary work. The apartment is located in the center of Sofia, and its western exposure allows for an abundance of sunlight, which is a primary tool used in the fields of architecture and interior design. The spaces that form this volume are zoned with colors—chosen deliberately. Contrast is the leading feature in every corner of this apartment. The living room and kitchen are merged into an open plan, divided into three functional areas: a culinary nook with an adjoining multifunctional counter. The toilet and bathroom are combined in one room, where the dominant color is white, allowing for visual depth and an artificial enlargement of the space, which lacks natural light. The main color palette consists of yellow, light green, and neutral tones. The bedroom follows the same concept present in the rest of the apartment. The interplay of color tones is clear, with the difference here being the presence of a single flooring material—natural wood parquet. The wall decoration resembles the famous Parisian apartments from the industrial revolution period, built during the Haussmann era, from which their name is derived. What we, as designers, seek is innovation in this specific project, and this is evident in the contrast between light and form. In addition to the bed, a mandatory element for this type of space, there are several other promising details in the form of complementary furniture, such as nightstands and a dressing chair, which definitely add character to the overall color atmosphere.
